Saubhagya Agarwal

Saubhagya Agarwal is the Founder and Managing Partner of A.S. Legal, Law Offices. He has been practising as an advocate primarily in the fields of Direct Tax, Insolvency, Financial Crimes, Regulatory and Corporate Laws for over twenty years.

After graduating with a B.Com. (Hons.) degree from the University of Delhi in 2001, he obtained his law degree from the University of Delhi in 2005 and was enrolled at the bar in the same year.

He was associated with Mr. M.S. Syali, Senior Advocate — one of the leading tax lawyers in India — for three years, where he advised various clients on a wide range of tax issues including taxability of receipts, applicability of Indian tax laws, positions under India's Double Tax Avoidance Agreements, and withholding tax provisions.

He has also worked with KPMG, one of the premier accounting firms in the world, advising clients on international tax issues involving interpretation of DTAAs, foreign exchange and foreign investment laws, entity structures for inbound and outbound investments, and transaction structuring.

He has represented clients including Sony, National Panasonic, Mitsubishi, IKEA, Motorola, Nokia, Alcatel, Areva T&D, Amway, BALCO, Oracle, Honda Siel, Mitsui & Co and General Electric before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, various High Courts, the Authority for Advance Rulings, and the Supreme Court of India.

He currently advises and represents clients across consumer protection law, contract law, corporate law, tax law, mergers and acquisitions, financial crimes and regulatory matters.
